Ulster County Art Association will host a cut-out/collage demonstration by Elin Menzies  on Sept. 6 Tuesday at 7 pm at the Senior Center, 207 Market Street, Saugerties, NY. Her presentation on cut-out collages is influenced by her early love of comic books and the graphic feel of art from other cultures, such as Inuit sculpture.

“In making them, I start with papers I paint and printed papers I make on my press. I also use fabric. Sometimes,  I have an image in mind and do a drawing first;  at other times, the images pop out without conscious thought on my part.” says Menzies.

If you would like to try this technique, please bring scissors, a small sturdy paper surface as a ground for cut-outs, some colored paper and/ or fabric, Uhu stick glue. (No canvas or anything too big)
