UCAA was honored with an extraordinary power point presentation by guest speaker Fred Di Vito at our monthly meeting on Tuesday May 7, 2019. Our club is based in Saugerties, NY at the Senior Center, 207 Market Street. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7 pm.

We saw a wide variety of his magnificent acrylic paintings and heard the stories behind them. The artist gave us an art history lesson by showing us the works of other artists as well as his own. He challenged us to think deeply about painting: the reasons why we do it and who appreciates it. We are most grateful for this delightful experience!

I am working on two series right now…”People & their Passions”  (some are pictured here) and My Journey with Cancer (not pictured here). Painting has become much slower since the illness, but I am determined to finish each project and the upcoming street art – sailboat rendering in acrylic “Fantastical Saugerties Lighthouse” including mermaids!   Please stay tuned…

29th KBS Annual Art Show – June 9, 2019 – Sunday

Kristy Bishop, owner of the Kristy Bishop Studio, 147 Market Street, Saugerties has battled cancer since September 2018. The battle has been won with the help of scientists, doctors and nurses who have taken direction from God, but there is much healing to be done from the treatments currently. She is planning ahead by setting the date for her annual student art show which has involved at least 100 works of art in the past. A new art judge is chosen every year to award prizes in all age groups. Healthy competition is encouraged; yet each student may elect to not compete with his or her peers. In that case, a ribbon will be awarded for the best entry of artwork provided by that individual student. Each student receives positive and constructive critiques of their work by the judge and the instructor Kristy Bishop. Although, the instructor has no say in who wins awards. Hope to see you there on June 9, Sunday afternoon!
